Focus on Fiber Arts Festival

This Saturday (6/23) I'm going to be at the Focus on Fiber Arts Festival at Sauder Village in Archbold. The festival funs from 10am-5pm. Come out and see me! I'll of course have yarn bowls in my traditional glaze style, plus some new stuff:

Shear Joy Sheep Mugs ($16 each) have a sheep on the front...
(The white mug is made from red clay and white glaze, the blue & green mugs are made from white clay with the colored glazes.)

And say Shear Joy on the back (same mugs as above, just flipped around)

Detail

Grazing sheep yarn bowls ($30 each)

Shear Joy draw string back packs. These are sewn from natural colored, pre-washed cotton twill, hand stenciled (with stencils I cut myself), and then sewn together. The eyelets at the bottom are reinforced for strength. They're the perfect size to carry a medium size project! I use one to carry knitting when I walk to/from the coffee shop to meet up with other knitters. $33 each (I made 3 so far.)

Fresh out!

Fresh out of the kiln - soup mugs with a cracker caddy. These were a Fathers Day gift commission, but I'll probably be making more. Especially for fall/winter. These would be great for chili with some saltines!

In Progress

For some reason this photo makes me want to yell
PIIIIIIIIGS INNNNN SPAAAAAAAAAAACE!

As you can see from the back side, these are planters.
They're made from red clay, and have 4 holes in the body
that drain out holes in the bottom of the legs.

Besides these pigs, I have a bunch of yarn bowls in the
works for the Sauder Village Fiber Festival June 23rd.

Printemps

I'm packing up pots to take to Angelwood Gallery for their 'Printemps' show. (I actually dropped some stuff off 2 weeks ago, but I think a good bit of it sold. So I'm taking in some more. Here's a sample below.) The show has a garden-y theme, so there are lots of fun, out doorsy pieces. Check it out!

Spring has sprung!

For as long as I can remember, my parents have put out a glass candy jar shaped like a bunny for the month around Easter. The head and body of the bunny are glass, but the features - ears, face, shirt, etc, are made from felt. It's kind of goofy, but I always thought it was fun, and is the inspiration for these 3 candy jars.

And yes, they have tails...

Making Foolish Mugs - part 3

Today I'm stamping sides and attaching handles!

Almost there. They need to dry so I can bisq fire them, then glaze, then fire again.

Making Foolish Mugs - part 2

Today's video is throwing the mugs. Hopefully you can hear me over the wheel; the motor isn't covered up on the side the camera was on, so it's a little loud. And I'm not familiar enough with imovie to tone it down much.

Anyway, you can watch me whip one out!

Making Fool-ish mugs, part 1

Something a little different today. Sort of a quick overview of making the Fool's Run mugs.

Part 1 is some of the prep involved.
